White Man Arrested For Targeting Black Family in ‘Racist Terrorism’ Act

A white man has been arrested after a Black family in a suburban Detroit who was the target of a series of attacks on their home for more than three nights according to The Detroit News. Eddie and Candace Hall displays a large Black Lives Matter sign in their home located in Warren, Michigan was targeted by the harassment which included shots fired into their home, racial slurs were written on their property, and slashed tires.

The unnamed man was arrested on Sept. 29 after authorities announced he faces eight felony charges, including three counts of ethnic intimidation. Bill Dwyer, Warren Police Commissioner that the suspect confessed to the hate crimes.

“In this city, we do not tolerate any type of crime, but particularly racist terrorism,” Mayor James Fouts said at a news conference earlier this week. “And make no mistake about it, this was a racist terrorist.

“This is something that is not tolerated in Warren and it was the No. 1 priority with the Warren Police Department from the day that hate crime took place,” Dwyer told the Detroit Free Press this week. “We used just as much resources as we would in a homicide investigation.”

Candance said the family might have been the target of violence because of the Black Lives Matter sign that sits in their window and believes the attacks had racial intent.

The family has told the Free Press that they are not taking down the sign. “Just to know that they have someone in custody, I think I’ll be able to sleep tonight without waking up every 15 minutes or so and constantly checking my ring security system to see if someone is coming,” she said.
