Actress Taylor Russell has been making news recently for one very interesting reason in particular. The Bones and All star has been linked with singer and actor Harry Styles.
According to New York Post’s “Page Six,” Russell was seen getting cozy with Styles following her stage performance in The Effect at the National Theatre in London.
While some believe that Russell is just the British actor/singer’s latest squeeze, there’s a lot more to this powerhouse performer. Here are five things to know about Taylor Russell.
She’s Canadian.
Born Taylor Russell McKenzie on July 18, the 29-year-old actress was born in the small community of Deep Cove, North Vancouver, British Columbia. She was raised all across the country, residing in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal before heading back and forth to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
She’s been a working actress for over a decade.
Russell made her U.S. acting debut with a guest role on the medical drama series Emily Owens, M.D. in 2012. Two years later, she starred as Lark Voorhies in The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story for Lifetime. She began starring as Judy Robinson in the science fiction reboot of Lost in Space for Netflix in 2018 and became a fan favorite, earning a nomination for “Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Presentation” at the Saturn Awards. Russell plays a reluctant cannibal in the 2022 horror drama Bones and All, her most recent film role.
She leads a healthy lifestyle.
She may have played a meat eater in her latest film, but in real life, Russell follows a plant-based diet. She doesn’t drink alcohol, preferring instead to whip up herb-remedy tonics that have helped eliminate her eczema and deliver a slew of beauty and skin benefits, which she revealed in a recent interview.
She’s a designer’s muse.
The actress has also hit the catwalk, opening the show for Loewe, a Spanish luxury brand, in 2022. She has also appeared in campaigns for Chanel and Prada and appeared in numerous magazine fashion spreads.
She is biracial.
The daughter of a white mother and Jamaican father, Russell has said that she wasn’t fully accepted in school due to the lightness of her skin. But the actress has learned to embrace herself and bring her Blackness to the screen. “There’s so many different levels, layers, types of being a Black girl, a mixed girl. It doesn’t look like just one thing,” she shared in an interview with the website Shadow and Act.
