Chrissy Teigan and John Legend have been very open and vocal about their struggles with miscarriages. After experiencing the loss of their son Jack during week 20 of pregnancy in 2020, the couple decided to take a leap of faith and try again. Earlier this year, they welcomed their third child—and rainbow baby—Esti Maxine Stephens. So, the world was totally taken aback when they revealed they also recently welcomed a fourth child, a son, via surrogate.

Wren Stephens was born June 19, 2023, and joins sibling Luna, Miles and Esti.

“Wren Alexander Stephens, our new love,” John Legend shares in a social media post.

In a separate post, Teigen talked about her journey working with a surrogate following the loss of baby Jack.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” Chrissy Teigan wrote in an Instagram carousel post. “As a little girl, 2 glowworms and 2 cabbage patch dolls were perpetually in my arms, helping me stir in my pretend kitchen.”

She and husband John Legend reached out to a surrogacy agency in 2021, looking for two tandem surrogates to help carry their third and fourth children.

“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she continued in the post. “To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”
