Creative genius and entertainer Solange Knowles can never be boxed in. Earlier this year, during a tour of her Los Angeles apartment, the “Cranes in the Sky” songstress revealed that she was taking her Saint Heron brand to new levels. She let fans know that in addition to building and curating pieces in her own apartment, she would soon be tapping into glassware as well.

Last week, Knowles held a chic launch party to unveil the 5-piece “Small Matter Objects” collection. The line of hand blown pieces was made in conjunction with Black glassblower Jason McDonald, who has dabbled in the medium since age 14.

“Designed by me and produced by glassblower Jason McDonald, the glassware reveals the sentience of household objects through the landscape of Black domesticity,” Knowles shares in an Instagram post. “Handblown Glassware 001 collection is intended to deepen the contributions of Blackness to objects, collecting, design and glassblowing.”

According to Knowles, the pieces were designed to be cherished possessions, and heirloom of the sorts. To that, McDonald adds that glass is a “forever material,” and the collection is meant to live in our homes forever.

The glassware is all designed of brown, black and tan hues, perfect for any home, no matter the color scheme. “The collection’s intention is to inspire communal connection through gatherings, while deepening artistic interest in the sprightly contributions of Blackness to design, objects and architectural glassblowing,” a description of the glassware reads. “Encompassing light, color, movement and form, the functional glass items are meditative propagations of creative design intended to express Small Matter’s design language in a line of signature objects for home.”

While this initial drop sold out in less than two hours, Knowles will certainly be back with additional pieces and collections in the future.
