Just like clockwork, the Met Gala has returned and given fashion lovers and pop culture stans alike an evening worth waiting for. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, this year’s theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty,” which paid homage to the fashion giant that Lagerfeld was within the industry.

Brittney Griner and Wife Cherelle Make an Appearance
Hand and hand, Brittney and Cherelle Griner arrived at the Met Gala with smiles and gratitude. The two spoke of how happy they were to spend time together, especially after what they both have experienced in the past year. Brittney also spoke about working with the Bring Our Families Home organization, which is working to aid in the safe return of American political prisoners who are imprisoned in other countries.
Doja Cat Channeled Karl Lagerfeld’s Beloved Cat
With an elaborate and innovative look, Doja Cat played on her own name and the legacy of Karl Lagerfeld’s pet cat, Choupette. She donned an Oscar de la Renta look complete with a prosthetic nose and full glam.
Lil Nas X Bared His All
If it’s one thing Lil Nas X is going to do, it’s give drama to commit to a theme. The Montero superstar showed off his goods while covered head-to-toe in silver metallic paint, crystals and pearls.
Serena Williams Shows Off Her Baby Bump
One of the biggest highlights of the evening was Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian revealing her growing baby bump while stepping foot onto the Met Gala’s iconic stairs. Talk about a grand entrance!
Michaela Coel Wows in a Stunning Embellished Gown as a Tribute to Kaiser Karl
Lagerfeld was widely admired for his expertise and his deference to the couture handiwork of the Parisian old world master ateliers. Actress Michaela Coel embodied this through her chosen Schiaparelli gown. Coel stated that there were “130,000 crystals, 26,000 mixed stones and over 3,800 hours of work” that went into her “second skin” for the evening.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Made A Fashionably Late Arrival
We can count on our fave mom and dad Rihanna and A$AP Rocky to show up for cultural moments at whatever cost— even if they have to jump through the crowd to get ready at The Mark Hotel. When they though the world was ready for their presence, they ascended upon the Met’s stairs and gave us a beautiful display for our eyes to marvel at.
