Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx experienced a medical emergency that left him unresponsive before he had to be resuscitated,  reports Radar Online.

On April 11, 2023, Foxx was rushed to an Atlanta hospital after falling deathly ill while shooting the film Back in Action.

“Jamie suffered a serious medical episode and needed immediate attention,” a source close to the situation revealed. “It was touch and go for days with him, and he had to be revived—he is very lucky to be alive!”

Because of the care that Foxx received in the emergency room, he was stabilized but the incident could have been a tragedy due to the severity and suddenness of his health scare.

“He’s very lucky he got the treatment he did,” stated another source.

After much speculation, it was revealed that Foxx suffers from hypertension and the complications from the disease took its toll on the actor.

“Jamie suffers from high blood pressure, which doctors say can cause clots in the brain leading to a stroke,” said the insider. “Doctors believe this was a long time coming, and really, if they hadn’t acted fast, Jamie might well have been a goner.

When news broke that Foxx had fallen ill, many offered prayers and well-wishes for speedy recovery including fellow comedy icon Martin Lawrence.

“I hear he’s doing better, from what I hear,” Lawrence said to EXTRA. “My prayers go out for him every night, and I just wish the best for him. [He’s] one of the best that we got in Hollywood, not only one of the best entertainers but a good person.”

On April 12, Corinne, Foxx’s daughter, took to Instagram to share her father’s health status.

“We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” she wrote on Instagram. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
