Female Rapper Saweetie Gives Story About Her Big Chop and Reveals Which Rapper She Has Her Eyes On

Saweetie has undergone a few transformations since hitting the mainstream. The “Icy” rapper is not afraid to experiment with her looks depending on the song, video, or performance. However, there was one look change that she did for personal reasons. Let’s take a look at Saweetie’s hair journey and what led her to cut all her hair off last year.

Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper broke into the music scene in 2017 with her single “Icy Girl.” The song made her an instant success on social media, and she followed it up with hits that kept her name in the headlines. The Sacramento native charmed people with her beauty, fun personality, and outrageous energy. She is known for flipping songs and making them her own, like her flips of Khia’s “My Neck My Back” or Petey Pablo’s “Freak-a-Leek.” Saweetie comes from a famous family. Her cousin is Gabrielle Union, and her grandfather is football player Will Harper who played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Saweetie began dating fellow rapper Quavo in September of 2018. Much like Cardi B and Offset, the couple’s relationship helped elevate both their statuses and make them must-sees on red carpets. They pair met on social media, with Quavo later sharing the DM he sent to get her interest. “You so icy, ima glacier boy,” he said. Saweetie responded, “Was hannin then.”

The union would last for almost two years until they announced their breakup. Circumstances surrounding the split have always been hazy, but she heavily alluded to him cheating on her. She tweeted, “Presents don’t band-aid scars, and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.” Quavo would fire back, making his own speculations, but things only got worst after a video of the pair fighting in an elevator hit the net. Both of them claimed not to know who leaked the video and said it was over a year old. However, fans blamed Saweetie and believed she leaked it to make him look bad.

When Migos member Offset left the group, Quavo released a song where he seemed to allude to Saweetie having a physical relationship with his group member. She stayed quiet for several months, opting to talk about it in her music. Unfortunately, her song about their split would come on the heels of TakeOff’s passing. Despite pleas from fans to pull the song, Saweetie and her team released the single and its parent EP, which went on to sell an abysmal 2k in its first week.

Saweetie has revealed that in the darkest moments, she found solace in meditation. It led her to the realization that it was time to chop off her hair and release some of the negative energy. She told Power 106’s Bryhana, “I wanted to start over, and I did research about hair, and hair holds a lot of energy. And I really wanted to just feel new and fresh with this new music. I won’t say new me. But elevated me. I really just wanted to start over again.”

Saweetie has yet to release any music since last fall but recently revealed she’s got her eye on Lil Nas X for her next boo. New energy, indeed.
