Actress LisaRaye Sadly Announces The Passing Of Her Mother, Katie McCoy: “I Am Numb”

Actress LisaRaye announced the passing of her mother today on social media. According to LisaRaye her mother passed away last night. The actress took to Instagram to make the announcement to friends and fans sharing she’s numb and having a hard time.

LisaRaye has not released any information relating to her mother’s cause of death. In her announcement the actress stated, “I lost my mother last night. It was expected but never could I prepare. Being strong is what you taught me but I can’t say it applies today. I will make your transition a celebration of memories that I’ll cherish. I’ll miss you.” Katie McCoy and David Ray McCoy gave birth to the LisaRaye in 1967. David Ray McCoy, is also the father of rapper, DaBrat. Unfortunately his life was taken in 1988.

While there’s not too much information known about LisaRaye’s mother, Katie. The two did appear on Iyanla’s Fix My Life with her daughter, Kai Morae in 2020. In the explosive episode, LisaRaye and her mother struggled to see eye-to-eye. The actress had a very close relationship with her late father, David Ray McCoy, with which angered her mother. As a matter of fact, LisaRaye and her father were so close they made a death pact with each other. The actress agreed that if her father passed away before her, she would also take her life. Following his passing, LisaRaye made an attemptby running her car into a tree.

Despite all the chaos between LisaRaye and her mother, Katie, they both had a tremendous amount of love for each other. Years after the episode, the mother-daughter duo appeared in a much better place. In her Instagram caption, LisaRaye Notsuffering, Motherslove, motheranddaughter, and missyousomuch.
