Actor Shemar Moore’s Dating History Explained: From Toni Braxton to Halle Berry

Shemar Moore kicked off his Hollywood dating resume with none other than Toni Braxton. Moore considers her his “first Hollywood girlfriend” and says the pair started seeing each other shortly after he got out of college and was working on The Young & The Restless. In 2010 he said, “She called my agent when she was shooting a video in Miami, and it just went from there. I was like the little kid who found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was a wild ride with Toni.” He starred in her video for “How Many Ways.”

From there, Moore would date Halle Berry. While he described Toni as a “wild ride,” he considered his time with Berry a “necessary ride.” He said his time with Halle showed him how to treat a woman and the things he’d want from his future companions. “It made me much stronger as a man, and knowing the caliber of woman I want in the future,” he recalled. He said they kept their relationship quiet due to her just getting divorced. They bonded over being biracial and their shared struggles in Hollywood. Moore says he was “smitten” by the Oscar winner.
