Sandra Denton is best known to the world as Pepa of hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa. The women have had much success in the last 3 decades thanks for their hits like “Whatta Man” and “Push It”.
Recent years have seem them have a resurgences thanks to reality television, touring and a recent biopic on Lifetime. Pepa has also stayed in the news thanks to her constant changing appearance. The hitmaker has gotten a lot of work done, and her doctor is looking to collect on some unpaid work.
Back in January, Pepa and her partner in song Salt gave the world a look at their story with the debut of their lifetime film. The movie covered their rise from high school friends to global superstars. At the time, third member Spinderella went public claiming Salt and Pepa cut her out of the film after they had a falling out.
Days before the films January 22nd release she told fans via social media that she had been excluded from the film and its development. “Words cannot fully express my disappointment when I learned a decision was made to move forward with a Lifetime biopic that wrongfully excluded me from every aspect of development and production all the while using my image throughout, given that I played an integral role in the group’s story and success.”
Pepa fired back defending herself on The Real. “When Spinderella says that we excluded her, Salt and I did reach out for her to consult with the movie.” Salt chimed in with “We’ve come to crossroads where we have decided to agree to disagree. I definitely am open and Pep is open. We’ve talked about it. Our hearts are open and have always been open to Spinderella.”
Prior to the films debut, Pepa was coming out of a tough year filled with corrective surgery to fix some implants that shifted during a car accident. She sought the help of a doctor Dr. David Sayah. Unfortunately it seems that Sayah could not help Pep, who complained of further complications following her visits with Sayah.
Pep is currently suing Sayah for neglect and has refused to pay his fees. As a result, Sayah is putting a lien on Pep’s lawsuit with Uber for her accident, alleging that if she is awarded any money he should first get paid. Pepa currently has almost $700k in outstanding medical fees with the doctor.
