They’ve expanded their family!
Colin Kaepernick just welcomed his first child with longtime girlfriend and activist Nessa Diab!
According to People, the couple has been dating since 2015, Diab often being a vocal supporter of her beau during his challenging transition from NFL quarterback to world-renowned activist. An Emmy-nominated on-air personality, Diab has used her platforms to advocate for Black and brown youth, women’s issues, and reproductive rights. The duo teamed up to found the Know Your Rights Camp, a nonprofit organization dedicated to liberating Black and brown communities, and Ra Vision Media, a company that highlights the talents of Black and brown professionals. Now the power couple is expanding their imprint and legacy, recently announcing the arrival of their very first child.
“I thought long and hard about sharing our life changing news today. I decided to do so because today is the first day in a few weeks where I stepped out for work with a new life title – MOM!,” Diab shared on social media.
The captioned black and white photo shows Diab and Kaepernick together in a hospital bed holding their newborn baby. Kaepernick smiles wide as Diab rests her head and arm on his shoulder. An easy glow compliments her grin and a baby nursing pillow can be seen resting at the foot of the bed. Apparently, the two waited a few weeks after the baby’s birth to announce the news, keeping Diab’s pregnancy and birth completely under wraps. She spoke candidly about her recovery, how they both are adjusting, and their decision to not share until now.
“Recovering after delivery has been a journey (more on that later) and honestly I wasn’t going to share anything because this is sooooo personal to us and I realized I’m a complete mama bear. Colin is the most amazing dad and I’m soooo grateful that he is by our side for every moment of this journey,” she continued.
Diab said motherhood has already completely changed her life and she’s so grateful for their new child. The Know Your Rights Camp official Twitter page also shared her message and thousands flooded the couple with congratulatory messages and well wishes.
“My world has gotten that much bigger thanks to our sweet little baby who has shown me how to love in ways I never knew. Thank you everyone for your support as always. Love, The Kaepernicks,” Diab signed off.
The new mom is already back to work, posting a stunning picture of herself as she prepared to host the VMAs red carpet this past weekend. Sending you and Kaep all of our love Nessa! Congratulations!
