Mike Zimmer takes a job with Deion Sanders at Jackson State

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has landed a new job at a Historical Black College and University.

Zimmer has accepted a position on Deion Sanders’ coaching staff at Jackson State according to HBCU Gameday. Sanders introduced Zimmer to the team on earlier this week.

“He’s asked me about it a few times,” Zimmer told The Pregame Show. “The pay’s not good. But I do love Deion and I’d do anything for him.”

Zimmer previously coached Sanders when he played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1995. Zimmer was the defensive backs coach during Sanders’ entire time with the team.

“He can open up so many doors for these young men but I’m extremely impressed with the way he’s teaching them about life and not just football.” Zimmer added. “And taking care of them, and talking to them about the real things that go on in the world and not the fluff stuff.”
