Livestream Church Services Captures New York Bishop Robbed At Gunpoint for $400K

A New York City bishop has spoke out after he and his wife were robbed by gunmen for $400,000 in jewelry during a livestream Sunday morning church service. Bishop Lamor Whitehead went on Instagram live to talk about what happened to him and his wife Asia K. DosReis-Whitehead. The bishop expressed gratitude for all the support and calls from churchgoers and NYPD.

The incident started when about three masked gunmen came into the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie targeting the married couple, The Shade Room reported.

The incident took place around 11:15 am when the men approached Whitehead at the podium during his sermon according to the New York Post. Whitehead was addressing the congregation until he spotted the possible danger and hit the floor on his hands and knees.

During the live he revealed how much was taken. Police confirmed that he, his wife, and possibly churchgoers were robbed of $400,000 worth of jewelry. Whitehead wore a long gold chain and a large ring on each finger according to reports.

During the live talk, the bishop explained that the women in the church are traumatized but said he wasn’t scared.

“We’re pushing. We’re still doing what we need to do,” Whitehead said. “I’m not a person from the suburbs; I’m from Brooklyn, I’m from the city. I understand the streets. This bishop, I’m not scared.”

Whitehead said he was able to see the robbers’ faces although they had a mask on and identified the getaway car, which was a white Mercedes Benz CLA. When the men fled the church, Whitehead ran after the suspects, and saw them jump in the car and change clothes.
