Concert Pianist & Fisk Professor Anne Gamble Kennedy Was A Member Of Alpha Kappa Alpha

Were you aware that Anne Gamble Kennedy was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha? Kennedy pledged the Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Anne Gamble was born in Charleston, West Virginia where she received her early education. The schools were segregated at the time but she managed to secure a seat in the Junior Department at West Virginia State College. She graduated cum laude at Fisk University where she also pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Kennedy was a performing artist as well as a professor. She served on the piano faculties of Tuskegee Insititute and Talladega College. She left her position at Talladega to accept a one-year position at Fisk University. This position evolved into a thirty-two-year tenure as Fisk. After she retired she contributed to her community and performed her own arrangements.
