Ayesha Curry, the wife of NBA player Stephen Curry, is not a stranger when it comes to controversy. The mother of three is a very polarizing figure on social media, often misunderstood and heavily criticized for many unknown reasons.
Earlier this year, Ayesha found herself receiving a fair amount of mixed reactions while debuting her weight loss after losing 35 lbs.
Via Instagram story, Ayesha shared she was proud of her weight loss. “I spent my entire 20s having babies, nursing babies,” she said. “Now it’s my turn to nurse myself. I’m Jamaican, I’m strong, I’m fast and I’m resilient. Negativity only makes a mom go harder, word to the wise.”
The negative comments were instant after Twitter users reminded the mother of three how she has bashed women in the past for showing too much skin, referring to Ayesha Curry’s 2016 tweet: “Everyone’s into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style. I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matters.”

One Twitter User responded to Ayesha’s tweet with his own translation stating, “she was uncomfortable in her own body before she lost 35pounds. Now that she’s fit she wants to show her body to anyone who will look. Shame she had to feel like she had to judge other women for being proud of their bodies. #Hypocrites”
Ayesha Curry also found herself on the receiving end of criticism when she stopped by the Red Table with Jada Pinkett Smith and admitted she desires male attention outside of her husband, Stephen Curry.
“Something that really bothers me, and honestly has given me a sense of a little bit of an insecurity, is the fact that there are all these women throwing themselves [at my husband], but me, the past 10 years, I don’t have any of that, I have zero — this sounds weird but, like, male attention, and so then I begin to internalize it, and I’m like, ‘Is something wrong with me?’ “Ayesha stated, which of course, caused an uproar across social media.
Earlier today, Ayesha debuted a new look sporting a blonde wig and blue eyes (temporarily), as stated in the caption. Many Twitter users were initially confused, and alleged Steph Curry was cheating on his wife with a white woman. The new-look received a ton of backlash, while others defended Ayesha Curry stating, she’s criticized for everything she does.
Some Twitter users took things a bit far, saying Ayesha Curry looks like a whole white woman. Steph Curry defended his wife against the ‘meanies’, leaving a comment under her post. “You beautiful baby. And don’t you let anybody tell you differently ok? I mean it.” Steph then added, “There’s just a bunch of meanies out there and I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit. Do you boo boo. P.S. If the wig falls off I won’t tell anybody, I promise. Pinky promise. It be hilarious though, but won’t anybody know. Wait- that’s been you in this bed the whole time??? I ain’t even know. Now I’m tripping ??”
