White couple facing charges after pointing guns at Black Lives Matter protesters

A few months ago a white St. Louis, Missouri was captured on video pulling their guns out on a crowd of protestors that were walking past their home. A St. Louis grand jury has decided to charge Mark and Patricia McCloskey, with two counts each of exhibiting a weapon and tampering with evidence.

Due to the incident, the couple, who are personal injury attorneys and Republicans were featured speakers on during the Republican National Convention. The incident occurred on June 28 during a protest against St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson, who publicly revealed the names and addresses of protesters who wrote letters to her in support of defunding the police.

At the time of the incident Albert S. Watkins, a lawyer for the couple said, “The McCloskeys want to make sure no one thinks less of BLM, its message and the means it is employing to get its message out because of the actions of a few White individuals who tarnished a peaceful protest.”

Another attorney for the couple, Joel Schwartz, said he wasn’t surprised by the indictment.

“Once all the facts are out, it will be clear the McCloskeys committed no crime whatsoever,” Schwartz said. “Frankly because the grand jury is not an adversarial process and defense counsel are not allowed in there and I have no idea what was stated to the grand jury and what law was given to the grand jury.”

“They broke down our gate, they trespassed on our property. Not a single one of those people are now charged with anything,” Mark said. “We’re charged with felonies that could cost us four years of our lives and our law license.”

“What you are witnessing here is just an opportunity for the government, the leftist, democrat government of the City of St. Louis, to persecute us for doing no more than exercising our Second Amendment rights,” he added.
