Tory Lanez Officially Charged In Megan Thee Stallion’s Case, Canadian Singer Faces Up To 22 Years and 8 Months If Convicted

Megan’s continued to ride the success of her achievements this year, controversy with Lanez aside. When Lanez released an album finally addressing in the most direct way to date the incident that happened between them, Megan was prepping for her Saturday Night Live performance, in which she addressed him again in her own way. Now, it seems as if her refrain of “protecting Black women” was heard loud and clear.

While his career seems to have stalled, hers hasn’t. She was also featured recently on the cover of TIME magazine’s “TIME 100 List,” an achievement for any new artist. In addition to that, “Cardi B’s ‘WAP,’ featuring Megan Thee Stallion, ruled the first-ever Billboard Global 200 chart. The song lead with 100.9 million global streams and 23,000 global downloads sold in the week ending Sept. 10,” according to Billboard. “WAP” was also the most-streamed song of the week globally that week, beating BTS’ “Dynamite.”

The “Memories Don’t Die” singer had been at the receiving end of intense scrutiny from social media, fans, celebrities, and news media ever since the unfortunate incident.

Lanez was detained in the Hollywood Hills incident and charged with carrying a concealed weapon but after that, it seemed as if the world was waiting for the next move. Megan now famously posted, and deleted, photos of her own wounded feet, and has already named Tory Lanez as the shooter. Tory, up until recently had been quiet until that changed drastically.

Lanez shocked fans by releasing a 17-track album called #DAYSTAR. Throughout the album the singer addresses his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, also alleges he’s not responsible for the incident, and her team was trying to frame him. The singer also addressed artists and celebs like Dream Doll, Kehlani, JR Smith, and Masika Kalysha.

Incredulously on a song called “Solar Drive @ Night,” which seems to be the location the incident took place, Lanez confesses he wants Megan Thee Stallion back – and the wayward singer also reveals he fell in love too fast. No doubt he’ll never get his wish but even if he did, it’d have to be through conjugal visits potentially.

With the new charges that have been released today (Oct. 8th) by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, things have gotten considerably more perilous and his proclaimed innocence is about to be put to a major test.

The Canadian citizen Tory Lanez has been charged with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. In addition to that, the D.A. also made it a point to add that the person inflicted great bodily injury, without naming Lanez directly.

TMZ also reports that while the officers seem to think otherwise, Lanez still is holding on to the belief that it was accidental. If Lanez is convicted on charges, like many of Megan’s fans would like to see, he faces up to 22 years and 8 months in prison.
