Singer Eric Benét Sparks Heated Debate Claiming Men Should Be On Birth Control Instead Of Women, Says Science Created Pill For Wrong Gender

Singer Eric Benét is raising eyebrows with a new tweet instead of new music. The almost 50-year-old singer with three children of his own is seemingly weighing in on the birth control debate on his Twitter, with his thoughts creating a divided response.

During the last few months, the Grammy-nominated singer has been active on social media, promoting himself and reminding fans of his longevity in the music business. Having come onto the scene in the late 80’s, Benét’s career blew up with his second album A Day in The Life, which produced “Spend My Life with You,” his Billboard charting hit with singer Tamia.

The two reunited during the pandemic to sing the song together over the Internet, delighting fans and the many of couples that have gotten married to their now-considered “standard” song. It’s been over 20 years since their duet netted them a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group and hit #1 on the R&B charts, where it sat for 3 weeks.

Benét was famously married, and divorced, to actress Halle Berry back in 2001. Their relationship didn’t last as long as one would have imagined they would have liked, with them separating in October of 2003. They divorced unfortunately in January of 2005, with Benét remarrying Prince’s ex-wife, Manuela Testolini. Testolini and Benét have 2 children together, with his eldest daughter being with his deceased girlfriend.

Berry recently has drawn news for her own recent divorce drama – and new singer boyfriend.

Berry is in the midst of her third divorce from her ex-husband French actor Olivier Martinez, whom she shares one child, Maceo, 6, with. Recently, she fired papers with her previous lawyer to take on the case of her divorce and represent herself. Their divorce has been ongoing since 2015 and has yet to be finalized.

It doesn’t matter to Halle it seems, as she recently revealed her new boyfriend singer Van Hunt. She posted a candid shot of herself wearing a “Van Hunt” t-shirt with the caption, “Now ya know” and some emojis. The “Dust” singer, 50, seems to have nabbed the 54-year old Berry and the two have been dating for a few months, though Halle has just revealed his identity. They also apparently celebrated her birthday together earlier this year in Vegas, according to her Instagram.

According to People, Halle’s allowed Hunt to even meet her children — and they’ve been quarantining together. “They are spending a lot of time at Halle’s Malibu house,” the source told the magazine. “She really seems to enjoy the quiet time. Van has met her kids, so it seems pretty serious.”

While Berry and Benét never had kids, Eric’s latest tweet may provide some insight into his thoughts and the conversations that he may have had during the short time he was with her.

“Theoretically, a man could impregnate 4 women a day per year (1460 pregnancies),” started his tweet. It seems as if Benét thinks that birth control was created for the wrong gender – with men obviously being able to scientifically create more children than one woman could.

“Science created the pill for the wrong gender,” was his ultimate takeaway and fans fell on different sides of the argument. One fan commented, “I get the argument, but from a scientific POV it’s not possible to chemically affect the fertility of sperm cells.” Another disregarded the whole tweet, saying “Yeah but bc he cheated on Halle Berry no ?.”
