‘Birds of a feather’ or ‘Misery Loves Company?’ …Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is finding himself to be a fan of fellow wordsmith Megan Thee Stallion.
Tekashi, or Daniel Hernandez, was indicted on charges related to his involvement with Nine Trey. Facing a 37-year sentence, Hernandez cooperated with the prosecution affecting an assist in the conviction of associated members Anthony Ellison and Aljermiah Mack. He received a reduced sentence of two years in turn and was released much earlier due to concerns related to the novel Coronavirus and his asthma.
In light of that turn of events, much of the hip-hop community and media pundits alike cited the New York rapper for violated the most fundamental code of the streets: Don’t snitch. Since singing like a canary and implicating – *takes deep breath* – Jim Jones, Cardi B, Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, former manager Kifano Jordan, Casanova and entire label Rap-A-Lot Records…he has been rebuked by an equally long list of luminaries in the rap game.
Snoop Dogg, who clearly isn’t a fan, posted on Instagram, “As we watch Tekashi 69 (or whatever his name is) snitch on EVERYBODY, I invite you all to remember Martha Stewart snitched on NOT ONE soul during her trial. Baby girl kept it 10 toes down and ate that prison sentence by herself, like the baddie that she is.”
Now that Megan has clearly implicated Tory Lanez in shooting her foot, Tekashi 6ix9ine posted a video of himself bobbing and nodding along to Megan’s “Girls in the Hood” captioned, “Megan my new favorite rapper.”
The context was not lost on his followers drawing comparisons (and making contrasts) to his finger pointing and Hot Girl Meg’s accusations on her Tory Lanez. There’s just a wee bit of difference in the circumstances here: Tekashi gave up information on associates for crimes he was already on the hook for in exchange for an almost irrelevant amount of time to serve behind bars; Megan was involuntarily sh-t by someone. In other words, she did not sign up to be shot. How that remains lost on some is befuddling to say the least.
