Love and Hip-Hop stars Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith-Harris have finally been reunited and 4 years earlier than expected. As their relationship has continued to adjust to having both of them physically together once again, they’ve been letting fans into their lives outside of the TV show. It now seems as if the pandemic is putting a strain on them, too.
Mendeecees Harris was released from prison at the end of January after serving four years on drug trafficking charges, half of his previously sentenced 8 year term. Harris went into prison right after his on-air wedding to fellow co-star Yandy Smith and the show covered how Yandy and their blended family dealt with the loss of their father figure and husband. The reality television star and producer is one of the franchise’s original creators and has starred in the show since Season 2.
While Harris was serving his time, Yandy took up the cause of prison reform. At one point, while protesting, Yandy was reported to have been pepper sprayed and the moment was captured all over social media. Smith-Harris had partnered with community organizations and activists, including Women’s March co-founder Tamika Mallory and activist Mysonne, to raise the profile of issues surrounding inmate’s rights.
Harris release was covered extensively by the pair, as it was a specific plot point of Yandy’s entire storyline on the show since Mendeecees left the show to serve his time. One especially poignant clip shows the couple exiting a black SUV, heading to the nearest garbage can, where Harris tosses his state issued duds into the bin. The caption proudly stated, “Never going back…@mendeecees,” beside an emoji depicting praying hands.
Mendeecees and his brother Tyrus Harris were accused of being a part of a conspiracy that involved having heroin and cocaine transported to Rochester to him and his brother. The brothers plead and were found guilty for supplying the drugs. Harris was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison, along with a penalty fee of $171,000.
It’s unfortunate that right as Harris was released, the pandemic set in and thus limited his freedom, along with the rest of the world, all over again. Returning to a home that has been run by your wife for the last 4 years was leaving Mendeecees feeling left out and he had some words for his wife.
Recently, Yandy posted a photo of her and her partner apparently having a very serious conversation and fans immediately became worried. The couple are favorites, especially due to the fact that they feel a part of their journey to being reunited. The post had the words “Mendeecees Asks Yandy for Space,” seemingly also validating their fears. Smith-Harris also instructed her followers to click the link in her bio to get the full story.
When a follower then admits to not following instructions but having something to say, Yandy clapped back hard.
“I didnt watch the bio, however now that he is back Yandy never mentions him, everything is her and the kids she still acts single,” the comment read. “I do love them together they need counseling.”
Smith-Harris responded, firing back, “girl you sound foolish. Click the link in my bio and watch the video ?????.”
If she’d clicked the video, she’d have seen that the pair are simply discussing the need for a bigger home now that Mendeecees has returned. Though Yandy agreed, she did blast her husband for accusing her of not making it a space that he felt welcome in.
