Jim Jones got into an intense debate with someone who said he’s an Iraq War veteran.
The exchange began after Jones said that being a rapper is more dangerous than being a soldier. It was something he first said during an interview on Miami’s 99 JAMZ last year, and he repeated that same reasoning on Instagram this week.

The Iraqi War vet then took offense to Jones’ words and let him know about it.
“Heard the comments you made about ‘being a rapper is harder than fighting a war in Iraq,’” the man wrote on Instagram. “You allowed to have your opinion without any facts nor truth to it, but as a Vet and a hip-hop fan, I found it extremely disrespectful and ignorant.”
“Here’s some facts,” he continued. “My unit which fought in Iraq 2004 lost more Marines in two months than rappers in the past 3 years. Keep talking but there is zero comparison!”
Jones posted the man’s words to Instagram and told him that he’s seen more death and suffering than he has.
“Here are facts every n—a I grew up with is either dead or in jail so u wanna compare death tolls it won’t add up,” wrote Jones. “U went to army n met n—–s u never knew or grew up wit. I grew up wit all these n—-s all my life so it hit different.”
“Yal was shootin at kids n innocent bystanders in the midst of shootin at the enemy,” added the rapper. “Remember u knew who ur enemies were we we don’t and everybody knows who we are because of our notoriety.”
The veteran then shared Jones’ words to his Instagram page and responded on video. The man said that he supports rappers becoming successful, then helping those around them. But he feels to compare a rapper and a soldier is ridiculous.
“When they make money they start feeding the people underneath them and putting it out there, and start trying to make a change with that money, I 100% completely support that and understand that,” the man explained. “But at the same time, it’s a lifestyle choice, and there’s a lot that comes with that.”
On Tuesday, Jones posted some of the exchange to Instagram and in the caption wrote, “Is this opinion or facts I need answers y’all. Like I said being a rapper is 1 of the most dangerous jobs on this planet.”
“I did both and these streets are harder. 2yrs in the desert,” someone wrote in the comments section of Jones’ post.
“I’m from the hood hood and this is EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL to those who put on the uniform,” wrote someone else. “You owe that man an apology and use this as a learning opportunity.”
