Another One! Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica Crowned Miss World 2019

Another Black beauty queen takes her crown! On Saturday, Miss Jamaica World, Toni-Ann Singh, was crowned Miss World 2019.

Singh competed against a little over 110 contestants from all over the world. In the end, her beauty and talent wowed the crowd. On her final night she blew everyone away with her melodic rendition of Whitney Houston’s  “I Have Nothing.”

Perhaps the best part of the crowning happened when the three finalists, Miss World Jamaica, Miss World France and Miss World Nigeria stood together waiting to see whose name would be called. When the announcer said, “JAMAICA,” without missing a beat, Miss World Nigeria immediately jumped up in excitement and became the biggest cheerleader for Singh.

In an interview shared by the Miss World organization, Singh shared that she is passionate about her family and helping women find their voice. She does this through her work with the Women’s Center of Jamaica Foundation where she organizes to offer women educational opportunities and mental health counseling.

When she isn’t in her homeland, Singh attends  Florida State University where she is focused on women’s studies and psychology. Her plan is to become a medical doctor.

Singh joins Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss America and Miss Teen USA as a 2019 titleholder. Her addition makes it another first for Black women as it is the first time Black women have held the titles at the same time, across the five pageants.

We love to see it!
