Good news for fans of Children of Blood and Bone. Tomi Adeyemi has just told her Instagram followers that Paramount Pictures secured the rights for the adaptation of her bestselling young adult novel,  Children of Blood and Bone

“first things first – cbb has a new home!!! I’m going to be working with the incredible team @paramountpics to bring zélie’s story to life because ya girl is now writing and executive producing the movie,” she wrote.

Paramount Pictures outbid competitors Netflix, Universal and Amazon, by presenting solid incentives, such as a seven-figure screenwriting guarantee and a theatrical release. Adeyemi will be working alongside Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Entertainment, known for their work on Twilight Maze Runner.

Inspired by Nigerian mythology, the high-action fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone, follows orphan Zélie as she fights to protect her people from the dangers of the monarchy and oppression. Both Children of Blood and Bone and its sequel, Children of Virtue and Vengeance, debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list.

Tomi Adeyemi is a Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning Nigerian-American writer. Adeyemi graduated from Harvard University with an honors degree in English Literature and studied West African mythology, religion and culture in Salvador, Brazil. Adeyemi is also the founder and primary instructor of The Writer’s Roadmap.
