Bill Cosby’s attorney discussed the update to his 2018 sexual assault conviction during a recent news conference. On Wednesday (June 30), the comedian appeared before the media alongside Brian Perry, who spoke on his behalf.
“We’ve said from day one, we just didn’t think he was treated fairly. And that…the system has to be fair, and fortunately the Supreme Court agreed with us,” said Perry. “He’s happy, his wife is happy. The system only works if it’s fair to all sides. That’s the bottom line.”
The conference with Cosby and Perry was intended to address the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision to vacate his conviction on sexual assault charges. The conviction stemmed from the alleged drugging and molesting of Andrea Constand at his home in 2004. Per the court, however, an agreement with a previous prosecutor would prevent him from being charged in the case, resulting in his charges being dropped.
