Rachel Lindsay Says She’s Still Haunted By ‘Bachelorette’ ‘Angry Black Female’ Label
During an appearance on the June 4 episode of The View, Rachel Lindsay revealed that the label of “angry Black female” still follows her after The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison called her “angry” for standing up for herself. “I was sitting on stage with my runner up, my runner up told me that I was going to live a mediocre life if I didn’t choose him and my response to him was, ‘Actually I’m living my best life,’” Lindsay recalled. When I came back from commercial break, the host [Chris Harrison] said to me, ‘Rachel, you seem angry.’ I looked and I said, ‘That’s a strong word.’ And he said, ‘Well, you seem upset.’”
Lindsay went on to explain that she was taken back by the comment as she had not raised her voice or used profanity. “I have been labeled an angry Black female in Bachelor Nation,” said Lindsay. “It follows me around to this day.”
