B. Smith Dies at 70 After Long Battle with Alzheimer’s

Famed model, restaurateur, entrepreneur and more, Barbara Elaine Smith, has passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 70. Announced on Facebook early this morning, her husband, Dan Gasby, shared “B. died peacefully Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 10:50 pm, of Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in our home in Long Island, New York.”

Smith’s husband came under fire in 2019 after “finding love” with a new live in girlfriend who lived with them. In January 2019, EBONY.com reported ” “If This is Us and Modern Family came together, it would be us,” Gasby told The Washington Post on Monday, which highlighted the unique situation.”

The model appeared on the cover of EBONY magazine in April 1983.
